FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: 

  • Q – “My screen is dead / black and I get NO audio - will this product fix my issue?”
  • A – Yes. The 2011-2014 Edge and Explorer (and others) are extremely prone to the APIM failing causing a blank screen. If you have a black screen and no audio, this will fix the issue - guaranteed.

  • Q – “My screen is dead / black but I can still hear and control the radio - will this product fix my issue?”
  • A – No. If the screen is black, but the radio plays and you can control the track / volume from the physical buttons, then the issue is likely the touchscreen has failed.

  • Q – “I can see what is being displayed on screen, but the screen does not respond to touch input - will this product fix my issue?”
  • A – No. The touchscreen has failed and requires replacement. See our "Replacement Touchscreen for SYNC 2"

  • Q – “I get the error "Entertainment Unavailable" and I cant access any music sources. Will replacing the APIM fix this error.”
  • A – No. This is an issue with the ACM (Audio Control Module). We do not sell these.

  • Q – “I no longer get audio from any of my sources (AM/FM/XM/CD) but the touchscreen still works. Will replacing the APIM fix this error.”
  • A – No. This is an issue with the ACM. We do not sell these.

  • Q – “Does this need to be programmed at the dealer?”
  • A – No. We pre-program the module using the VIN you provide at checkout. 

  • Q – “My backup camera does not work, will this fix it?”
  • A – No. Backup camera failures are common. If the backup camera is not working, it will need to be replaced. 

  • Q – “If I update my Sync system using the Ford SyncMyRide website, will that cause the navigation feature to be deactivated?”
  • A – No. A consumer installed software update will NOT affect this navigation upgrade.

  • Q – “Will this kit void my factory warranty?”
  • A – No. This kit will not void your vehicle warranty. Although Ford will not warranty the components in our kit, we do for one full year!

  • Q – “Will this kit affect my SiriusXM subscription?”
  • A – No. SiriusXM subscriptions are NOT affected by our kit - your SiriusXM ID will remain the same.

    Excellent Product and Technical Support

    Order the 2011 MyFord Touch Navigation APIM module, for replacement of a failing module. Excellent price from 4Dtech as versus a replacement from the Ford Dealership. The instructions and video for removal and replacement, allowed for a very easy replacement procedure. It took me approximately 25 minutes to remove and replace the module and it is working perfectly.
    Thank you 4DTech for an excellent pre-programmed product and your tech support was very professional and friendly. Highly recommend any Ford/Lincoln owners to contact 4Dtech for electronics products and support.

    Apim for 2012 Ford Edge

    I have not reviewed anything that I have purchased ever! Having said that I feel compelled to share my experience. I have a 2012 Ford Edge and the screen just went black I tried to reset with no effect. While looking for a solution I found 4Dtech. I ordered the apim unit had it shipped 2nd day. I then watched a you tube video and when it arrived my 11 year old grandson and myself went through the disassembly and the install of the new apim it took about 30 min and bam all was fixed. This repair was easy and much cheaper than taking it to the dealer and comes with a 1 year warranty. I am now a loyal customer!

    2011 Explorer failing APIM

    I researched this for 3 weeks before buying from 4Dtech. Having the APIM pre-programmed helped make the decision. It takes about 30 minutes to install. I asked a lot of questions before I purchased. 4Dtech answered everything better than any place previously. BUY AT 4Dtech!

    The installation of the APIM module was just like on the video. Very easy. Did not purchase the plastic tools and they were not necessary anyway. The trim pulled out just fine by hand. The module worked perfectly after installation. Very happy with the product. Dealership wanted $1,060.00 for replacement, so I saved $460 using 4Dtechs APIM replacement. Hope it lasts well past the 1 yr warranty...

    Sync2 After BSOD APIM

    If you are in balance of paying this money for a replacement just do it. 4Dtech was amazing pasted in VIN had the tracking number the next day. Took me 10 minutes to install 5 minutes being finding the correct tools. Well done 4Dtech

    Sync 2 navigation upgrade to Ford Explorer

    The updated module worked straight out of the box. I have seldom been so impressed - it couldn’t be easier. Removing the dash pieces with the added tools also worked easily enough. I would recommend this to anyone with a +2013 Ford Explorer without navigation. This isn’t an after market gimmick - it’s the real deal!!
