This procedure applies to affected conversions using the control-panel mechanism pictured below. If the temperature knob is misaligned or will not activate Max A/C or Max Defrost after transferring your original button pack, check the gear alignment.

Align the gear
Remove the back cover from the bezel, following your kit’s disassembly instructions.
Rotate the temperature knob to its center position, with its mark pointing straight up between hot and cold.
Lift the large gear on the circuit board just enough to rotate it without moving the small gear.
Align the hole in the large gear with the hole in the circuit board, as shown in the aligned photo.
Press the large gear back into place so it meshes with the small gear, then reassemble the bezel.
