- A – No. A consumer installed software update will NOT affect this navigation upgrade.
- Q – “My backup camera does not work, will this fix it?”
- A – No. Backup camera failures are common. If the backup camera is not working, it will need to be replaced.
- Q – “If I perform a master reset, will that cause the navigation feature to be deactivated?”
- A – No. A master reset will NOT affect this navigation upgrade.
- Q – “Will this kit void my factory warranty?”
- A – No. This kit will not void your vehicle warranty. Although Ford will not warranty the components in our kit, we do for one full year!
- Q – “Will this kit affect my SiriusXM subscription?”
- A – No. SiriusXM subscriptions are NOT affected by our kit - your SiriusXM ID will remain the same.

I installed it in about 20 minutes, turned it on and it started right up, found my location in about a minute. Programmed destinations for my upcomming long road trip. Works as advertised.trip

APIM with NAV upgrade 2011 Explorer
Works exactly as stated on the website. Ford dealer charged $129 for diagnostic and wouldn’t upgrade the NAV system. They stated it wouldn’t work. Estimate another $1000 to buy , install and program an APIM with no NAV. I saved $200 , never programmed a thing and it took 8 minutes. Order the plastic tool set for the trim. I am very happy with myself.

I was looking for just a replacement apim as mine died...I found 4d and purchased the apim and upgraded to navigation and its amazing!! Nav works flawlessly and the install was a breeze!! Thank you so much !!

Welcome upgrade for failing module
This was an incredibly easy to perform upgrade that my dealer was quoting a significant markup to perform. My touch screen was having issues not booting up for days at a time, and when it was on I was having Bluetooth issues and usb connection issues with my iPhone. The original module did not include nav, so for way less than my dealer was charging to replace the unit like-for-like, I was able to add the nav with this replacement. I literally had this unit swapped in and up and running in less than 10 minutes. The instructions were clear and I had zero issues. It has worked flawlessly since install, I didn’t even require me to reprogram my Sirius channels/favorites. A welcome update included is that when the backup camera is in use, and I am close to something, the screen flashes green in the area where you are close to hitting something. The module I replaced only beeped. I can’t recommend this product enough!

Dealer said this was impossible
I took my explorer to a dealership in North San Diego. Dealer charged $135 and said my apim is bad and I'd missed my warranty. They wanted $1300 to replace it and I told them I'd look for other options. I'd bought 2 vehicles though them. So I looked and found 4D tech. I received my upgraded APIM with navigation and installed it in 15min.
I saved $500 my Sirius, backup cam... all work perfect and now I have navigation. Well worth the price
