These genuine Ford USB Media Hubs are all Apple CarPlay complaint for use with SYNC 3. Great for upgrading 2016 SYNC 3 equipped vehicles to support CarPlay. Also used for upgrading SYNC 2 (MyFord / MyLincoln Touch) to SYNC 3. When retrofitting SYNC 3, most vehicles will require a mounting and electrical adapter. You can find these on our accessories page.
YOU MUST UPGRADE YOUR SYSTEM TO VERSION 2.0 OR HIGHER FOR THIS HUB TO WORK.
Please perform this upgrade BEFORE purchasing this hub.

Perfect and easy
Read one of the reviews thinking the same as they did. Maybe get an extra USB by replacing my single remote with a double. Just went with what is in the car, single w/Remote. One in the car popped out, put this one in place and it works perfect. Iphone now works on my 2016 Mustang.

Easy Upgrade
Recently we purchased a used 2016 Ford Escape for my son. It had Sync 3 but did not have the navigation option installed. After a bit of research I found some videos from 4D tech showing the ability to upgrade to CarPlay. Before ordering I made sure I could upgrade the vehicles sync software to the latest version. At that point once the media hub arrived, It was about a 5 minute process to change the hub and immediately CarPlay was working! This is an easy upgrade if you have Sync 3 and a compatable vehicle for this media hub. It creates a much more useful system.

get the right one
I love how easy it was to get this hub up and running. Once in place, the CarPlay experience was instantaneous.
Some caveats, though... make sure you get the right one. There are two options for a media hub - one with 2 usb ports, and one with 1 usb port and a 'remote' port. My car originally had a single USB port hub (and another port in the center console under the AC controls). I thought I was going to be able to add an extra port by getting the double port. Nope. Spent 15 fruitless minutes trying to jam both of the car's USB cables into the hub, where there was a blank face and no port to connect to.
Eventually, I realized I had gotten the wrong hub. I sent it back and got the single USB hub with the 'remote' port. The remote, in this case, refers to the second USB port that's in my center console. That went in very smoothly.
Another caveat - make sure to update your Sync3 to the latest version. I've read about people with issues in this regard.
Also - even after watching the video on how to install this thing, getting the old hub out and then its power and USB cables unplugged was tricky. I had to use a small flathead screwdriver to lever it out (causing a small scratch) and that same screwdriver to depress the tabs on the connectors to release them. And there's just not enough cable to pull it out far enough to easily work on it.
But once it all got put in, I'm extremely pleased with having CarPlay in the car. -
Perfect Match for Lincoln
My 2016 Lincoln MKX did not come with Sync 3, as it was an early production model. This hub was a precise match for the ones I see in the 2018s that do come with Sync 3. Not only did the LED color match, but the secondary USB connection inside the console works just like it should with Sync 3. Very pleased with the results.

Needed to get help..:
The device is very easy to install- the issue is downloading the sync3 update. I tried for 3 days, I could not get all the files unzipped- bought a 32 gig thumb drive ect.
I ended up taking it to the local ford dealership l- they kindly only charged me for 1/2 hour. So in the end it was still cheaper for me to do it myself
